Following our exploration of Afterlife, which examined what remains long after systems, institutions, and injustices are presumed dead, and Backlash, which confronts the forces that resist progress and seek to restore old hierarchies, Three-Fifths Magazine turns its attention to Reconstruction. This theme challenges us to move beyond merely identifying what is broken and to engage in the difficult but necessary work of rebuilding. Reconstruction is not simply about repairing damaged structures; it is about reimagining and creating something more just, equitable, and humane in their place. It asks us to consider what kind of society we are constructing for future generations and whether we have the courage to build differently than those who came before us.
