Faith As Small As A Musterd Seed

When we put our FAITH in God, we commit to follow Him. I’d like to focus on the
bible verse, Matthew 17:20: “He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be
impossible for you.” This scripture acknowledges God’s immense power in our lives.
If we are faithful and humble over a few things, God will make us ruler over many. Faith is the
act of committing our lives to God, and waiting confidently for His promises.

An example of faith is to have true peace in the midst of life’s storms. Having peace is being
content and confident that Jesus is with you every step of the way. Jesus showcased his peace
in Mark 4, when he endured a raging storm with his disciples. His disciples had feelings of fear
and uncertainty. Jesus reassured them to believe, and the storm ceased. It was a TESTING of
FAITH. Will we believe in His word, or crumble in defeat? Do we need to be part of senseless or
arranged social circles where others intentionally hurt us, or bring about EVERYDAY obstacles,
distractions, and disarray, often limiting peace and prosperity? We must learn to choose
relationships that propel us into God’s blessings and won’t compromise our trust in God.

Living a Christian lifestyle allows us to become more like Him each day. The Christian walk is a
lifelong journey that allows us to trade selfish pursuits for God’s eternal promises. Having FAITH
means resting in His promises. As we abide in Him, we’ll be transformed into His image. We
must not lose sight of the three C’s of faith: Conviction, confidence, and commitment (Ward,
2011). Conviction examines the heart’s motives. Confidence is the act of faith. Commitment
is the act of leaning on God’s word for His eternal wisdom, peace, and blessings.
