Author: Delaine Teabout Thomas

Delaine Teabout Thomas, MPH, is a passionate health justice leader, dedicated to eliminating health disparities and advancing cardiovascular health for all people. Delaine’s passion for health justice was sparked by personal experiences navigating the healthcare system and her own wellness journey. Delaine graduated from The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a dual focus on Policy and Poverty & Inequality. She went on to earn her Master of Public Health in Administration and Policy at the University of Minnesota. Her thesis, Operationalizing Good Intentions, researched the commitments made and actions taken by healthcare organizations after the murder of George Floyd-- which occurred just 10 miles from her home in Minneapolis. She speaks about this work in her 2022 TEDxEdina Talk, called "Yes, Racism is a Public Health Crisis... Now What?!" Delaine continues to elevate the research questions most valued by community members, serving as the first Women's Health Equity Fellow at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, where she conducts research to improve health care quality for women and other marginalized people.
