In the 1999 film “The Matrix”, Neo is given the opportunity by rebel leader Morpheus to remain in “the Matrix’s simulated reality” by taking the blue pill, or essentially becoming WOKE by taking the red pill, and seeing things as they really are.  

We are living in and day and age where it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between what is real and what is fake. AI is becoming more and more convincing in its ability to create false narratives through social media memes, which get passed along on the internet as reality.

Our political leadership lies to its constituents without batting an eye and claims that any challenges to their positions are nothing more than “fake news.” We are being told to disbelieve our own eyes and ears and embrace an “alternative truth” that is simply made up.

We are up against a reinvigorated effort to engage the nation in a white supremacist version of revisionist history. Books are being banned, displays recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of Black people and other people of color are being removed, our educational system is being revamped in the name of teaching our youth to become more “patriotic,” and truth is being demonized as being anti-American. It’s a blue pill, America, and thanks to AI, the lines of reality are becoming increasingly blurred.  

In order to stay on the right side of history and effectively challenge the status quo, it takes purposeful intent and courage to educate ourselves and speak truth to power. We cannot afford to be ignorant and intellectually lazy while the Matrix draws us deeper into its web of falsehoods.

We are up against a powerful, well-established machine designed to keep us mentally impotent and controlled by wealthy power seekers at the expense of the well-being of the masses.

We risk becoming complacent and an integral part of a system that seeks our demise as a unified people. Instead, we are taught to turn our frustrations and hostilities on each other, classifying our neighbors as enemies, when in reality we have more in common with each other than we do with those who pull the strings of our discord.    

We are bombarded with a barrage of violent images sought to normalize the mistreatment of our fellow human beings, which are then rationalized and justified by victim-blaming. The desensitization is nothing more than a form of mind control that allows the powers that be to manipulate the populace. It’s an age-old strategy used in war times by dehumanizing those classified as “other”.

We make derogatory names for “them” to create a rift between “us,” the good guys, and “them,” the bad guys. The puppet masters controlling the strings have become experts at getting people hyped up in the name of domination as opposed to unification, and the “poorly educated” take the bait, hook, line, and sinker.

Wokeness is demonized, diversity is demonized, integration is demonized, equality is demonized, inclusion is demonized, and we are directed to fear and hate those who embrace them.

It’s the same tactics in wartime, demonize the enemy and make them less than human, making it easier to devalue their lives and disregard their humanity. 

Consequently, it allows us to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to their suffering and termination. Some will even find pleasure in witnessing and even taking part in the madness to the point of rape, torture, and taking life. Yes, it truly is madness, madness in a fallen world ruled by chaos.

We can become numb to the repetition of images shown us ad nauseam, whether real or fictionalized via FX on the movie screen, AI on social media, and the ever-growing realism in video games, where killing is just for fun. It’s mental conditioning.

People are currently being recruited by ICE with a $50,000 bonus and sent out with limited training and carte blanche ticket to do whatever they see fit, including taking the lives of unarmed American citizens. It has been documented that part of their recruiting tactics involves the use of references to the violent military video game “Halo,” where the players use deadly force against the “enemy”. It’s an aggressive approach to appeal to the weekend wannabe warrior who doesn’t have to worry about anyone shooting back.      

Under the direction of a wannabe fascist dictator, our nation is moving further in the direction of an American nightmare as opposed to an American dream.

It can feel hopeless, infuriating, and depressing as we watch it unfold before our very eyes, knowing that so many allowed their vote to support what we are now seeing come into fruition. It’s the breakdown of what had the potential to become a great nation by fulfilling the promises of its Constitution for ALL Americans.  

Our hope can still be found in the masses being educated in the truth and building relationships with those falsely categorized as “other”. It can be found in the repetition of images that reflect inclusivity in the spirit of loving our neighbors. It can be found in unity across the bridges of God-created differences by allowing His Spirit to live, love, and serve in and through us.  

If we refuse to open our eyes and simply adhere to the blue pill dope pushers of “the Matrix’s simulated reality,” we will only fall deeper into the madness and chaos, which has already shown itself for what it is. For the rest of us, who know better, we can become drug pushers of the red pill.
