It worked. One generation after another, exposed to one tragedy after another, and the “powers that be” have succeeded in desensitizing the masses. After seeing it all, most are no longer shocked by the misfortunes experienced around the world. Where we once stopped at breaking news regarding school violence, we now provide 15 seconds of attention, if that, and move about our day. Currently, when our own government has turned against us in the name of patriotism, we are almost forced to reexamine our spectrum of empathy and its impact.
So, how did this happen? Technology has allowed society to be controlled by gatekeeping its advances and understanding how to manipulate them before releasing them to the public. As time has gone on, new ways were formed on how to overexpose certain communities while keeping others guarded. This important piece to the plan allowed a training ground where the overexposed, who were often the less fortunate, experienced mental trauma that numbed them to the core. This left them feeling hopeless and unable to see past what was in front of them.
On the other side, those who weren’t as exposed received images of what to be aware of when it came to outsiders, creating a narrative that difference is bad. Instead of mental trauma, they received mental manipulation. This was important to the overall plan to create a space where people fight against one another instead of for one another. However, at some point, it felt as if the people were reclaiming their sense of community through the very technology that had attempted to separate us.
As the political climate began to change with this advancement in how we communicate and experience the world, it created space for the “others” to feel more welcome. Having more leaders who better represented what our communities looked like provided a sense of pride that built confidence in restructuring our societal images. Those who once felt alone found comfort online in spaces where like-minded individuals flourished. A bit of a digital uprise began, and the people regained that sense of empathy that was slipping away. But of course, with peace comes a threat.
The alpha demographic no longer received the automatic praise that it once did, and rage began to set in. As diversity rose, so did the fight to destroy it. Then came the leaders to reignite the original plan in a more structured manner, and one important goal: Destroy it all. Returning to the available technology and utilizing it in new ways became the objective. Censorship through algorithm manipulation once again contributed to silencing those of a more welcoming voice.
But now we are in a time that we cannot ignore. They are coming for us all, and as we have learned in the past, we must report every injustice to stop it. We are seeing our communities reconnect as we work to protect our constitutional rights. The constant call outs, our aggression, our wisdom. We must use everything we’ve ever been taught to help the people regain their rightful control. It may not be the swiftest movement that we would like, but we are moving in that direction. To assist in this goal, we must be reminded of this important aspect: history will repeat itself. Therefore, we must learn from it and apply what’s needed for our reclaiming.
