As we embark on the holiday season, we must remind ourselves to be present with those who are closest to us. We often have a million and one deadlines to meet at work, spouses, children, parents, and siblings to care for, on top of additional life commitments that require our time. We must remember the reason for the season and be present amongst family and friends to avoid added holiday stress. Utilizing the following strategies and routines can help reduce unnecessary chaos during the joyous holiday season.
It is important to practice being present both physically and emotionally for those you care for. Additional tips may include limiting screen time, engaging in activities that promote health and fitness, being aware of your thoughts and emotions, and communicating effectively with those around you. It is important to practice self-care while fostering meaningful connections with family, friends, and community members, and to engage in healthful breathing exercises to promote mental clarity and relaxation. Protecting your time does not have to be complicated. Set personal goals and boundaries to reduce unwanted circumstances and eliminate false expectations.
It is necessary to unplug from the chaos of life to enjoy family and friends during the holiday season, while sharing in gratitude for what you have accomplished this year. Expressing gratitude can eliminate unwanted holiday stress and allow you to develop a greater sense of accomplishment and reassurance. During this holiday season, it is important to share presence over presents.
