Autumn’s Iridescent Winds of a Changing America

Autumn’s Iridescent Winds of a Changing America” paints a picture of a nation in flux, with powerful forces driving transformative change, characterized by vibrant and complex dynamics, much like the colorful and dynamic winds of Autumn.

The beauty of what has been happening in America over the last 60 years spans from magical to miraculous. One can only imagine that, 40 years after hearing the voice of sharecropper Fannie Lou Hamer testify before Congress, America would elect its first black president.

Civil Rights, Affirmative Action, Voting Rights, and the list goes on, with the Iridescent, or changing colors, evident in the changing landscape of America. On those fall days, the more the wind blows, the more we begin to see the colors of Autumn from diverse angles, light refractions, and translucence.

In essence, the more the wind blows, the more beauty is revealed. In 2025, the winds can best be described as a backlash by the powerful against the inevitable change, both demographically and culturally.

History reveals much of the same when the backlash came; it could only delay the progress of inclusivity, and when that progress arrived, it was all the more glorious. Now, as a mosaic, BIPOC communities, along with Allies, Advocates, and Accomplices, must stay united. Three-Fifths Magazine is here this October to keep the multitude of colors shining brightly together upon the winds of change by galvanizing with principles of unity until the words of scripture are made manifest:

“Here’s what I want: Let justice thunder down like a waterfall;

let righteousness flow like a mighty river that never runs dry.”

Amos 5:24 The Voice
