Flipping The Script: Keys To Taking Back The Narrative War

According to Merriam-Webster (2025), freedom is a term used to represent the ability to act or speak without hindrance. A state of being that allows one not to be enslaved. As we come upon the Juneteenth holiday,  we are reminded of our freedom and the ability to continue pressing forward. It is a reminder that we must continue to strive for greatness. That, of course, begins with self-awareness. When one has an insurmountable amount of confidence and self-awareness, they have the ability to grow, build, and seek out new opportunities for self-improvement.

We are not focused on the past, but take into consideration the lessons and the blessings that brought us to this current state. I am reminded of a scripture that still resonates with me: Philippians 3:14: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” This scripture reminds me to continue pushing forward in every achievement known. Not only that, but it is also a reminder to take someone with me. As I listened to a guest speaker during a women’s empowerment brunch, I received influential words to continue succeeding, showing up, and placing my best foot forward.

When we reach a level of success, we must not forget to share opportunities for growth with others. We must be confident in our abilities to have a voice and persevere. We must remember that we did not get here on our own. When the war of life comes at us full speed, we must be ready to put on the full armour of God, remain steadfast and immovable, and fight the good fight of faith. Flipping the script is not a phrase of negativity; it is simply changing mindset, having the ability to remain focused, and never being afraid of growing. It simply means climbing up the ladder with knowledge and an excellent work ethic, and grabbing onto continuous learning opportunities for advancement. It is the beginning of new ideas on the horizon.

Taking back the golden key in expectation of new ideas, employment opportunities, and social circles is of great importance. It is a reminder that we didn’t get here on our own. This is why I am blessed to have kind and influential individuals within my circle. Some new and some old. We must never forget what it took to get to where we are today. We must flip the script and love those who are least lovable, we must help individuals who have been hurt and wish to continuously hurt others.

We must seek out the underlying reasoning of the hurt.It may not be you who caused the problem, but they feel indifferent about you thriving, but fail to realize you can help them up as well. It takes sufficient communication, willingness to work, and just being yourself. I sincerely pray for those who are overlooked, and experience constant pain and stagnation. I invite them to a world filled with opportunities, and to begin anew. Life is made of experiences. Some good, and some bad. It is our ultimate goal to know who we are, who we serve, and what makes us who we are. When we get a true sense of self, we are on the road toward healing. We must ensure the wound is closed by doing some inner work, prior to flipping the script on the road toward freedom.

We must be willing to forgive, take a blank canvas, and start on a journey toward excellence. Never be afraid to take healthy risks toward your career, well-being, and social circle. You never know who can assist you on this journey called life. Always ensure to focus on the 3 P’s: “The correct people, the correct process, and the correct perspective.
